Calling a roofer in the Netherlands

← Back to guides

If you do not speak Dutch, use these words and a short message. This site does not book anyone for you.

Dutch words

  • daklekkage — roof leak
  • dakgoot — gutter
  • dakpannen — roof tiles
  • offerte — written price offer
  • VvE — owners’ association in a flat

Message you can send

Hello, I have a leak / loose tiles at [address, city]. Can you come to look? Please send a price in writing (offerte) and your KvK number. I speak English.

What to say on the phone

Say the street, house number and city first. Then say daklekkage or losse pannen. Ask for an offerte, not a promise on WhatsApp only.

Emergency night work costs more. Ask whether the visit is inspectie only or also repair today.

Who pays in a rental or a flat

A roof is usually the landlord (verhuurder) or the VvE, not the tenant. Hiring a roofer yourself can leave you unpaid. Official split of rental repairs: Rijksoverheid (checked 2026-10-09).

How to check the company

Ask for the KvK number and look it up on kvk.nl. A logo on a van is not a licence. VCA is a safety certificate some roofers show; it is not a government approval of the price.
